Tim White is a celebrated bluegrass musician, broadcaster, recording artist, and cultural preservationist rooted in Central Appalachia. Since its inception in 2005, he has served as Executive Coordinator and host of the PBSādistributed concert series Song of the Mountains, airing on roughly 190 PBS affiliates with a potential reach of over 147 million viewers per year. He also hosts the nationally syndicated Tim White Bluegrass Show on more than 70 radio stations across the Eastern U.S. A creative force in the regionās cultural landscape, Tim coāfounded the Appalachian Cultural Music Association (ACMA) and played a central role in establishing the Mountain Music Museum in Kingsport, Tennessee. An accomplished visual artist as well, he painted the iconic āBirthplace of Country Musicā mural in Bristol, TNāVA in 1986 and later created the āMarion Musical Heritageā mural in 2015 in Marion, VA. Musically, Tim performs with two bands: Troublesome Hollowāa longāstanding bluegrass/Americana ensembleāand The VW Boys, which infuses bluegrass with comedy and magic. Troublesome Hollow reunited in 2015 and continues to tour throughout the Southeast. Over his career, he has promoted and collaborated with legends such as Bill Monroe, Alison Krauss, Ralph Stanley, and Jim & Jesse McReynolds. Heās been nominated multiple times for āBroadcaster of the Yearā by both the IBMA and SPBGMA.
